Will Julianne Hough return to the world as a professional? Dancing with the stars?

It has been 15 years since Julianne Hough started Dancing with the stars as a pro, but that doesn’t mean Hough wouldn’t consider returning. In fact, while speaking to Good Morning America about future dream candidates, Hough admitted there is one particular candidate that could make her think about returning as a pro: Chris Hemsworth.

“I know I’m the host, but, yo, when he comes back, I might dance!” Hough said of the Thor Actor who ironically competed in Dancing with the Stars Australia in 2006, where he and his professional partner Abbey Ross finished fifth.

Hough may have been joking in part, but the whole thing will probably have to remain a joke, because in an interview with Vanity Fair in 2024, Hemsworth admitted that he didn’t particularly like to look back on his time on the Australian version of Dancing with the stars. “I just felt like an idiot,” the actor admitted, which means it’s highly unlikely he’d want to repeat the experience. But hey, there’s nothing wrong with putting the idea out there.

The former professional has achieved tremendous success as a dancer, winning Hough’s two consecutive victories. Dancing with the stars seasons with Apolo Ohno and Helio Castroneves and won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography, but her success is not limited to that. Hough was also a judge on the show for six seasons and is currently a co-host. She has also worked as an actress.

“The door was always open for me to join or return in any capacity, because Dancing with the stars is my family,” Hough told Variety in 2023. “The door was never, ever closed. … When the idea came up to return as host, it was a full circle experience for me. I was now part of the show in every role – from professional dancer to judge to host.”

But Hough likes that her career has been more than just one thing, as she told Andy Cohen on Monday, August 12, episode of Watch What Happens live with Andy Cohen. “I think because I do so many different things, I’m a little confusing,” Hough said. “People ask, ‘What does she do? Is she dancing, is she a singer, is she an actress, what does she do?’ But I think I’m a storyteller. And I think inherently everything I do is storytelling, whether it’s through my body, my voice or my acting.”

It’s safe to say that no matter what Hough does next, she will continue to tell stories, in whatever form.
