Freestyle | Ski & Snowboard in the USA
The 2024-25 season is upon us and includes one of the most exciting national freestyle schedules ever, with more events on the calendar than ever before, bringing the world’s best junior and professional athletes together to compete on home snow.
This year’s schedule includes the World Cup, US Selection Events, US Championships, NorAms and Junior Championships. For the first time in years, the USA will host three FIS Freestyle World Cups, bringing together the world’s best moguls and aerial athletes. The NorAm Tour, US Selection Events and US Championships will provide a platform for the USA’s best young talent.
Domestic Freestyle Schedule
Selection
The national schedule for the Mogul and Dual Mogul athletes begins at the US Freestyle Selections in Winter Park, CO on December 13-15, 2024. Participating athletes can earn the opportunity to qualify for starts in NorAm competitions. The Aerials athletes have their Selections event on January 10, 2025 in Bristol, NY.
National Championships
Immediately following the Aerials US Selections event in Bristol, the Freestyle Aerials US Championships will take place on January 11, 2025, also in Bristol, NY. Mogul athletes will finish their 2024-25 season at the US Freestyle Moguls Championships March 28-30, 2025 in Palisades, CA. These events are unique because the best of the Stifel US Freestyle Ski Team and the best division athletes compete on the same stage.
World Cup
The Aerials World Cup will return to Lake Placid, NY for the first time since 2018 on January 18-19, 2025, and it will be an event you won’t want to miss. The following weekend, the Stifel US Freestyle Ski Team’s mogul athletes will be back in the USA for the Waterville Freestyle Cup, in the birthplace of freestyle skiing: Waterville, New Hampshire. Athletes will compete in a series of mogul and dual mogul competitions on January 24 and 25, 2025. After a week off from competition, both the mogul and aerials teams will be back in action on February 6-8, 2025 at the Intermountain Health Freestyle International in Deer Valley, also known as the Superbowl of freestyle skiing.
NorAm
The Deer Valley NorAm on February 12-13, 2025 is the first of several stops for the Moguls NorAm Cup this season. Mogul athletes have a second national NorAm in Stratton, Vermont, on February 28-March 1, 2025, where they will compete in both Mogul and Dual Mogul. The Aerials NorAm Cup will stop at Utah Olympic Park on February 14-15, 2025, for its only national competition of the season.
Athletes competing in the NorAms hope to secure a spot in the World Cup for the following season. This spot is awarded to the overall winner in both the Mogul and Aerial races.
US Junior Championships
The 2024 U.S. Junior Aerials and Moguls Championships will be held March 17-23, 2025, at Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah. This event will attract the best of the best in junior aerials competing head-to-head in their age groups (U15, U17, and U19).
“The USA has built a truly fantastic development pipeline across the country,” said Matt Gnoza, US Ski & Snowboard Freestyle Sport Director. “Events like the US Selections and US Championships, where elite athletes compete against some of the best in the world, provide these athletes with the opportunity to qualify for the Stifel US Ski Team, World Cups and the 2025 World Championships. The door is open in the freestyle disciplines and we are always excited to see who takes advantage of these opportunities and showcases themselves on the world stage. We are excited to bring more freestyle events to local snow and provide more opportunities for the next generation to be inspired. The team is building on a highly successful 2023-24 season and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish at both the development and elite levels.”
