Thane: Fire breaks out on ground floor of Sai-Gangat Society in Kasarvadavali, residents evacuated (Watch video)

A fire broke out in the meter box room on the ground floor of Sai-Gangat Society in Kasarvadavali, Thane this morning. The fire, reported at around 7:15 am, spread quickly from the shaft and damaged electrical wires up to the seventh floor. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The fire resulted in the destruction of about 70 meters of boxes in the room and the complete burning of the wiring in the shaft. Firefighters and disaster management personnel safely evacuated about 40 to 50 residents from the building and brought them to a safe area on the ground floor.

Rescue personnel, including police officials from Kasarvadavali, officials from Mahavitaran and disaster management personnel with a van, were rushed to the scene. The fire brigade also reached the scene with an ambulance and a fire engine.

After about an hour of joint efforts by the civil protection services and fire department, the fire was completely extinguished. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are currently being determined.
