Summary of Episode 4 of The Anonymous
We have good news and bad news. The good news is that The Anonymous returned this week with a brand new episode. The bad news is that we’re only getting one episode a week going forward. The three-episode premiere spoiled us, and now we have to wait anxiously each week to see what happens next. How awful!
Unfortunately, in Episode 4 of The Anonymous, “New Name, New You,” we picked up right where we left off last week, with a handful of players up for nomination and the power of The Anonymous up for grabs.
Thanks to Xavier and his alliance, Tyrenna was the biggest target on her back and her only chance of survival was to gain the power of Anonymous. That’s what it looked like in Episode 4.
Anonymous strikes again
In the first moments of the episode, DANI kept all the players on tenterhooks as they waited to see who The Anonymous would eliminate. Unfortunately, the axe fell on Tyrenna and she became the third player eliminated from the game. Xavier’s plan worked.
Then it becomes clear that Xavier was the one who ultimately gained the power of Anonymous. He was able to carry out his plan to the end while lying straight to Tyrenna’s face.
In his hideout, Xavier justified the underhanded move by saying that Tyrenna “sporadically” shared information with other players. Did the cameras forget to record that, Xavier? From home, it seems like they’re targeting the nicest player.
Back at the dial, Tyrenna revealed that she was playing as the Truck, which was supposed to make everyone look silly. They were all convinced that she was the Cube, which allowed Robbi to get through another episode unscathed. Regardless, Tyrenna left in a good mood.
“Be glad you got rid of me so early, otherwise I would have had to chase you all away,” she said, laughing.
Nina’s cover is blown
After the elimination, all the players went to their corners and started talking about strategies. Then Jack told Xavier a game-changing piece of information. He pointed out that Nina looks suspiciously like Survivor legend Sandra Diaz-Twine.
At that moment, something clicked in Xavier’s mind. He almost wet his pants when he realized that he had been playing this game with Sandra’s daughter. Xavier immediately absorbed the information and began to see Nina with different eyes, with more threatening eyes.
Meanwhile, Jack said in his confession that he plans to keep Nina as a close ally, putting Nina in a difficult position. One person is targeting her for being who she is, and another is trying to take advantage of her. The bottom line is that Nina needs to be on guard.
A handle refresh brings momentum into the game
As if this game wasn’t confusing enough, DANI tells players that they’re going to get new names. She also warns them that this can happen at any time during the game. This is great news for some players, but terrifying for others. Regardless, DANI makes the rules, so players were forced to go into their hideouts to create new names. Here are the updated players:
- Dillan: Popsicle
- Christopher: Lipstick
- Nina: Fire
- Andy: Lightning
- Marcel: Snake
- Xavier: Scissors
- Jack: Flamingo
- Lilly: Robot
- Robbi: Rocket
Sounds good, right? Wrong. DANI drops another bombshell. Suddenly there are 12 avatars in the chat. What does that mean? It’s time to welcome three new players to the game! Sydney, Kacie and Tyrenna are a thing of the past. Now it’s Wayne, Bismah and Victoria’s turn. Let’s meet them.
- Bismah aka Eagle: A political lobbyist who lies and tells the other players that she is a real estate agent
- Wayne aka Lightbulb: A former police detective who lies and says he is a janitor
- Victora aka Cactus: A travel blogger who is willing to flirt her way through the competition, not knowing that someone else has already tried that this season and it didn’t work.
There is a showmance that is blossoming
With a new, flirtatious player in the game, Christopher immediately took to her like a moth to a flame. Within minutes, the pair were chatting like they were on Love Island or something. You could tell Victoria was just living for the attention. It was also a good distraction for Chris, who had previously spent his days complaining around the house about his disdain for Dillian.
According to Chris, Dillian wasn’t contributing enough to the prize pot, so he wanted him eliminated from the competition. Elsewhere in the house, Dillian made it clear that he wasn’t a big fan of Chris either.
As a reality TV veteran, Nina saw all this and saw an opportunity to cause some chaos. God bless her for that. She told Dillian that Chris had it in for him and so the stage was set for a fight, but first a challenge.
160 Pound Puzzle
For the third challenge, DANI split the players into three teams, chosen by the newbies. They also learned that the new players were safe from elimination. And if they won the challenge, they got to share their immunity with a teammate. That’s a pretty high stakes, DANI!
This challenge seemed almost impossible when viewed from home. DANI had them put together a puzzle, but the puzzle had to weigh exactly 160 pounds. Who the hell comes up with something like that?
While some people were fighting to win, others were just fighting to appear relevant in the game. For example, Dillian and Andy had to prove that they could contribute to the prize pool. Unfortunately, that still hasn’t happened.
The winning team was Bismah’s team, thanks to Jack. He immediately recognized the solution to the puzzle and led her team to victory. And because he was such a great asset to the team, Bismah granted him immunity. Seems fair, right? Not for Lilly.
When Bismah announced Jack as the recipient of immunity, Lilly nearly lost her mind. She threw a full-blown tantrum. After being up for elimination literally every day, she really wanted a break, even if she didn’t deserve it. She said, “I’m angrier than a hornet!”
A shutdown in anonymous mode
Later that evening, in anonymous mode, players were ready to enter their new names. With a clean slate, players wasted no time getting dirty. Dillian immediately felt ready to shake the table and wrote, “Robbi, you’re going upstairs tonight.”
After that was settled in chat, Jack decided to put Victoria and Christopher in the spotlight. Feeling threatened by their on-screen romance, he wanted to turn other players against them. It worked, and everyone joined him and started to denigrate them. Welcome to Anonymous, Victoria!
Victoria didn’t know how to handle all the pressure. She seemed genuinely surprised that people were throwing her name around in the chat. To throw people off her trail, she wrote in the chat: “Tonight Chris, tomorrow Victoria.”
Wayne the Lightbulb, on the other hand, said nothing during the entire chat. This newbie had perhaps the smartest strategy. He just sat quietly and gathered “intel.” Why show up in the chat and risk revealing your identity?
In the last part of the episode, DANI asked the players to nominate someone for elimination. Of course, that’s when things always get interesting.
As promised in the chat, Dillian aka Popsicle voted for Robbi to go home. Four people voted for Christopher to go home, which shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. Bismah and Robbie both voted for Xavier. Bismah’s reasoning was so realistic. She said, “He won Big Brother. He’s a threat and he has to go.” Finally, someone says it!
Andy got a few votes as usual, but the most surprising nominations came from Chris and Lilly. They nominated Nina for elimination, which seemed completely unexpected. Chris said he was just trying to throw people off the scent, but with whispers in the house about her connections to Survivor, that doesn’t look good.
Dillian has finally gone crazy
After the nominations, Victoria sat around sulking, confused as to why people were attacking her in the chat. Then Dillian appeared out of nowhere and tried to explain things to her from the right perspective while reading Chris. It was the most epic attack we are likely to see on this show.
“You’re dealing with people who are loud and obnoxious in this game,” Dillian explained to Victoria before driving Christopher completely insane.
Christopher, meanwhile, acted as if he hadn’t campaigned against Dillian. But Dillian, aka Popsicle, aka Phaedra Parks from The Anonymous, was undeterred. In a spirited moment of reality TV excellence, he lashed out at Christopher, calling him a whole host of things, including “unfunny, loud, and country as hell.”
Meanwhile, Christopher, Victoria and Lilly sat there with their mouths open. They didn’t know how to react to Dillian and were completely speechless.
“If I get Anonymous tonight, you’re leaving. Don’t play with me,” Dillian concluded before strutting out of the room in perfect rhythm.
After this epic takedown was accomplished, DANI called the players back to their hiding places to complete “the test.” Who remained the most anonymous with their new names and gets to vote out one of the nominated players?
Of course, who won the elimination power won’t be revealed until the next episode, but DANI hinted that it was either Victoria or Jack. If Jack won the power for the third time, let’s just leave it at that and give him the grand prize now.
Next week we will find out which of the nominated players was kicked out by The Anonymous and what other surprises DANI has planned for these players.
“The Anonymous” continues on the USA Network Monday night at 11/10c.
