Britney Spears has described herself as “a girl who was once famous.”
The 42-year-old “Toxic” singer recalls recently teaching a dance class where a young girl was bullied and “put down” by the other students, and this reminded the pop star of herself.
She wrote on Instagram: “Of course I wanted to cry when I saw how sad the little girl got and I immediately became protective!!! So I held my phone to the mirror and filmed her dancing!!!
“I specifically brought it to the little one who was being downplayed by the other girls and I made sure they saw how… amazing she was!!!
“It made me so damn happy to see her confidence grow and then I thought about it!!! She reminded me a lot of myself!!!
“It’s not nice to be put down!!! I was open to the advice of others!!! (sic)”
Britney admitted that she often “just sat and listened” when people criticized her, but she has evolved and uses social media as an outlet.
She explained: “I know I’m a girl who was famous back then and I know I make mistakes!!!
“Honestly, I use Instagram for safety reasons and I like wearing pretty dresses and getting my hair done!!!
“I’m not sure why I’m explaining myself… I guess I wish I could have been a mean girl back when she was giving me her advice, shoved my Instagram in her face and made things awkward!!! (sic)”
Over the weekend, Britney, who split from estranged husband Sam Asghari last summer, shared another post in which she declared herself single despite reports that she had rekindled her romance with ex Paul Richard Soliz.
Alongside a dance video, she described herself as: “Hopeless romantic who understands that it’s great to be single.”
