Wynne Evans wants to find a partner

Wynne Evans is expected to find out who his partner will be on Strictly Come Dancing over the next week, but said he is keeping his preference as to who it will be “to himself”.

He said celebrity contestants and professional dancers had already taken part in a “speed dancing” session to find out the chemistry between them.

“You keep going, going, going. It’s interesting to see what’s going on behind the scenes,” he added.

The Welsh singer and presenter, who is also the face of Go Compare, has been confirmed as one of 15 celebrity contestants for the latest season of the show, which he said begins on September 21.

Evans, who also hosted a regular broadcast on BBC Radio Walessaid Strictly takes over “a bit of your life” but admitted he had “not started training yet”.

In conversation with BBC Radio Wales On Wednesday, he said he would find out who his partner was “next week or the week after.”

When asked if there was anyone he would like to dance with, he replied: “There are a few, but I’m keeping that to myself for now.”

“I’m not a dancer. I’ll be one of those who go on a journey.”

Evans, from Carmarthen, has released two number one classical music albums and performed over 200 times at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

He is also filming a new series about the Welsh coast with “Gavin and Stacey” star Joanna Page.

Other celebrity contestants in the next season of Strictly include former football player Paul Merson, sports reporter and ex-hockey player Sam Quek and comedian Chris McCausland.
