Power outage in Lebanon: Citizens urged to use water sparingly
The Zahrani power plant, the last and only power plant still supplying electricity in Lebanon, was reportedly shut down on Saturday, Sawt Beirut International reported on X, citing Lebanese power company Électricité du Liban.
The Jerusalem Post could not access the Lebanon Electric Corporation website.
The South Lebanon Water Establishment said the closure of power plants would affect their ability to pump sufficient amounts of water to the region.
According to Sawt Beirut International, the Electric Corporation said Zahrani had stopped supplying electricity “due to the exploitation of the power plant’s oil reserves, which has led to a complete disruption of electricity supply in all parts of Lebanon, including the country’s basic facilities, including the airports, water and sewage infrastructure, and more,” Israeli media reported.

Shortly after this report, the South Lebanon Water Establishment released a statement urging the population to keep water consumption to a minimum due to the power outages, as reported by Kan news.
