NASCAR Cup Series practice postponed due to rain in Michigan

Heavy rain is forecast for the state of Michigan, meaning NASCAR Cup Series activities are currently on hold. Cup Series practice and qualifying were scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. EST, but that date will be postponed.

This will be a tricky situation. NASCAR officials must decide whether they can get the track dry in time for practice and qualifying. The Xfinity Series race is scheduled to begin this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. EST.

As long as NASCAR doesn’t lose the Michigan track, which means drying the whole thing with the air titans and jet dryers, everything will be fine. If it does get lost, we’ll be looking at a lineup determined by metric.

There is optimism that things will only be delayed until 12:45pm EST. That’s a 15 minute delay. When the practice session takes place then, it will be a combined 40 minute session, no groups. All this information, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports.

If everything goes well, qualifying will take place on time. Practice will be interesting. Everyone will have 40 minutes. However, there is a possibility that many cars will be on the track at the same time. This should be good practice for racing situations.

There is supposed to be some rain in the area all weekend, or at least that’s what it feels like. Last night, the ARCA Menards Series was able to complete its race without any problems. Friday’s qualifying was canceled.

Again, as long as the heavy weather doesn’t touch the area, it’s manageable. If it starts raining, we can get on with racing and all the other fun stuff.

NASCAR Xfinity Series team announces lineup in Michigan

The Haas Factory Team has signed two drivers to multi-year contracts for the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Sheldon Creed And Sam Mayer cars. Creed will drive the No. 00 car while Mayer will drive the No. 41 car. Both cars are Ford Mustang Dark Horses.

The team will use the No. 41 in the Xfinity Series instead of the No. 98 car it is taking over from Stewart-Haas Racing. The number change will help the team better adapt to the different NASCAR levels, as Cole Custer is scheduled to drive car No. 41 for the Haas Factory Team in the Cup Series.

“We have developed a strong and consistent Xfinity Series program at Stewart-Haas that wins races and championships,” said President of the Haas Factory Team Joe Custer said in a press release on NASCAR.com. “In 2025, this program will run as the Haas Factory Team. The name changes, but our commitment to winning remains the same.”

“Sheldon Creed and Sam Mayer have won championships on their way to the Xfinity Series and both are hungry to win races and compete for an Xfinity Series title. They bring a lot of experience and the same will to win. Having them as part of the Haas Factory Team will allow us to compete at a high level and collect trophies.”
