House Of The Dragon Season 3: What we know so far
Prepare your dragons for a fight, because House of the Dragon Season 3 is confirmed – and this is what we know about it so far.
House of the Dragon Season 2 was first broadcast as part of the TV premiere schedule 2024 and is a huge success online. The sudden postponement of the Relationship between Alicent and Ser Criston Cole Daemon is on a ‘Island on your own’ over in Harrenhal and since the second season of this series is basically set in a real haunted house, it serves as a preparation for the war that follows.
But what exactly can we expect from season 3? House of the Dragon? When is the movie coming out? Who will we see? To answer all these questions and more, here’s what we know so far.
When is the premiere date of House of the Dragon season 3?
From August 2024 there will be no set premiere date for House of the Dragon Season 3, which is not so surprising. The The season two finale just aired, so it would be quite surprising if we already had a premiere date.
However, we can theorize about when the series will be released. There was a two-year wait for the second season, with the first season coming in 2022 and the second in 2024, so it’s safe to assume we’ll have to wait until 2026. I know that feels like an eternity – but with all these Targareyens and their dragonsNo wonder it’s taking so long. The amount of CGI needed to do this must be enormous.

I’m sure more stars will return and we can expect new guest stars as well, but we’ll find out more about that in due course.
What is House of the Dragon season 3 about?
The big question is, what is House of the Dragon What is Season 3 about? The simple answer is that it will most likely be an all-out war. As we saw in the House of the Dragon Finale of the second season (the had lower ratings Since no major battle took place, several houses of Westeros joined forces to fight between the two pretenders to the throne.
While most fans were not happy that we now have to wait two years to see this fight, the showrunner of the series, Ryan Condal, spoke in a press conference (via The Hollywood Reporter) in August 2024 and defended his decision by saying that they would achieve a “damn victory” with the upcoming battle:
There were a lot of fights in Season 2, such as Death by punch in the stomach between the Cargyll brothersor of course Rook’s Rest and its victimsand the fall of Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, but everyone expected the main battle to begin now.
But they decided to go the more emotional route. Even the director of the episode, Geeta Vasant Patel, spoke to Elle in August 2024 and said she supported the decision and found it “beautiful” to end with this conversation between Alicent and Rhaenyra:
With that in mind, however, it means that Season 3 will most likely be a fierce battle. Now we’re just waiting to see all the deaths we’re all expecting.
Season 3 will most likely introduce Daeron Targaryen
If you’ve been paying attention, you may have noticed one name that’s been mentioned a few times this season, and that’s Daeron Targaryen – an heir who hasn’t even appeared on the show yet and is currently in Oldtown. However, we have a feeling he’ll finally make an appearance in Season 3..
We know that Daeron’s dragon was in the series. It’s a very brief moment that’s easy to miss, but we can see that his dragon Tessarion is there. Condal confirmed this in the same press conference (via The Wrap) that we would see Daeron in season 3.
To be honest, it was about time. I feel like I’ve been waiting for this man for years.
Aemond Targaryen will be much more “desperate” and “unpredictable”
Aemond Targaryen certainly had an exciting story this season, nearly killing his brother and then taking over as ruler of Westeros, but now his power is under threat. According to an interview by Ewan Mitchell with Reverse in August 2024, Aemond will likely be even worse and even more “desperate” and “unpredictable” next season:
We’re about to see it completely erupt.
Production begins in 2025
Fortunately, we have a set date for when production on Season 3 will begin. You can expect more news about House of the Dragon next year, as diversity reported in August 2024 that the show Production will begin in 2025. What this means for the release date has yet to be decided, but we hope to get confirmation sooner rather than later.
What are you looking forward to next season? All I know is that I am ready to feel all the pain again – and then some. In the meantime, I will be watching the best fantasy shows to overeat while I wait.
