“Anyone who lives here or visits Arizona in the summer knows how hot it can get. Often times, it’s easy to think about how to keep ourselves cool and hydrated, but we don’t always think about others,” said Andi Ott, Queen Creek resident and Dog Haus franchise owner. “Phoenix Rescue Mission is such an incredible and passionate organization and given how much they do for the homeless, we knew we wanted to step in and help in any way we could.”

The local Dog Haus is hosting a water drive this weekend to benefit Phoenix Rescue Mission’s Code: RED Summer Heat Relief Campaign, which aims to prevent serious illness and, in some cases, death due to Arizona’s extreme triple-digit temperatures.

Through Sunday, August 18, Dog Haus is offering a “Give Water, Get Beer” promotion; guests who donate a case of water at one of the three participating Dog Haus beer gardens will receive a pint of beer for just one cent.

Year-round, Phoenix Rescue Mission’s Street Outreach Team provides water and essential assistance to our homeless throughout the valley. This work is especially important during the summer months as they attempt to distribute over one million bottles of water to save lives. The nonprofit provides Christ-centered, life-changing solutions for people facing hunger, homelessness, addiction, and trauma.

Three Valley Dog Haus locations are offering the “Give Water, Get Beer” promotion from August 16-18: Dog Haus Chandler, near Loop 101 and Chandler Boulevard; Dog Haus Gilbert, in SanTan Village; and Dog Haus in downtown Phoenix, in CityScape. In addition to a pint of beer, the craft-casual concept offers an extensive menu, including gourmet all-beef hot dogs, hand-made sausages, burgers made with humanely raised Creekstone Farms Black Angus beef, chicken sandwiches, chicken wings and tenders, local craft beers and a full bar, breakfast burritos and even plant-based options.

“In 2023, there were 645 heat-related deaths in Maricopa County, a 52% increase from 2022, and nearly half of those were homeless,” said Ken Brissa, CEO of Phoenix Rescue Mission. “These deaths are tragic and preventable. Dog Haus’ generous water drive to benefit our Code:Red campaign will allow us to serve these communities as best we can by meeting people where they are and providing them with life-saving items like water.”
