New York police officer sentenced to ten weekends in prison for raping young girl

ROCHESTER, NY — Shawn Jordan, a former Rochester Police Department officer, was sentenced to 10 weekends in jail after pleading guilty to the rape of a 13-year-old girl. The 40-year-old admitted to the assault, which took place in 2022 while he was still on active duty with the police force.

According to investigators, Jordan raped the girl and was also involved in another incident in which he engaged in inappropriate contact with her. In addition to these allegations, Jordan exposed himself to a 16-year-old girl during a Facebook video chat while wearing his police uniform at the time.

In March, Jordan pleaded guilty to second-degree rape and sexual abuse. As part of a plea agreement, he will spend 10 weekends in jail, for a total of 20 days. Jordan will also be on probation for 10 years after his release.

Jordan’s verdict attracted attention because the prison sentence was light for the seriousness of the crimes, and the plea deal raised concerns among community members and advocates for victims of sexual violence.

Rochester police have not released a statement regarding Jordan’s conviction.

  • It’s not a fire drill: Disgraced New York Congressman Bowman begs for money

NEW YORK CITY – In a story that sounds like something out of a political drama, Representative Jamaal Bowman is turning to his supporters for financial help after his crushing primary election defeat to Westchester County Executive George Latimer. According to the New York PostBowman, a member of the left-leaning “Squad,” is not just licking his wounds – he is begging for money to pay off his campaign debts.

Bowman spent over $5.3 million on the campaign, which went down in history as the most expensive House primary of all time, with over $1.3 million spent on television and digital advertising in June alone.

Nevertheless, his campaign ended up in the red, with debts totaling more than $141,000, according to the latest FEC filing.

In a desperate email to donors, Bowman portrayed himself as the victim of a massive spending spree by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which reportedly spent $14.5 million to oust him from office. “AIPAC has spent more money against us than in any other House primary – ever,” Bowman complained, adding that the financial attack had left his campaign strapped for cash.

As he prepares to leave the political stage, Bowman is asking for a few more dollars to help pay off his campaign debts. But with the extent of his financial problems still unclear, it seems he’s asking his friends for more than just a little help.
