Munachimso Brian Nwana broke the previous record set last year by American YouTuber Airrack by visiting 100 restaurants in 24 hours.

One man’s passion for fast food led him to set a new world record for visiting the most fast food restaurants in 24 hours. Munachimso Brian Nwana, a 22-year-old content creator and food consultant, visited 150 fast food restaurants, beating the previous record of 100 restaurants set by American YouTuber Airrack last year. Previously, TikTok stars Nick DiGiovanni and the late Lynn “Lynja” Davis held the record.

According to Guinness World Records (GWR), Nwana “did not use any private means of transport” during his record attempt. Since public transport infrastructure is limited in Abuja, Nwana completed the entire route on foot, covering a distance of over 25 kilometres.

To achieve the record, Nwana had to purchase and consume at least one food or drink item at each restaurant, with at least 75% of orders being food, according to GWR.

Speaking about the challenge, Nwana told GWR: “In New York, there are tons of restaurants and a decent public transportation system, so to do this in Abuja was a much bigger challenge and a bigger undertaking.”

In the photos shared by GWR on Instagram, Nwana can be seen enjoying various fast food dishes at different fast food restaurants. In one of the photos, he can even be seen eating with a group of young boys.

For his record attempt, Nwana chose 5pm as the start and end times and took a nine-hour sleep break from midnight to 9am. He mentioned that he ate “probably enough for a week” and made sure to try something from most of the places he visited. The leftover food was shared among his team and the public.

Nwana took up this challenge to highlight Abuja’s restaurants and promote Nigerian cuisine.

Although he enjoyed many different foods, including shawarma, pizza, chicken and burgers, his favorite dishes were traditional Nigerian delicacies such as moin moin (bean pudding) and àmàlà (a dough-like slurp dish).

“This record shows that the Nigerian food sector deserves attention. I want to encourage people from all over the world to come here and explore the Nigerian food sector,” he said.

Numerous social media users flooded the comments section to praise Nwana for his record-breaking performance.

One user noted: “We are putting Nigerian food on the map, one bite at a time. Congratulations Brian Nwana.”

Another commented: “Okay. I like this particular challenge, not only because I like to eat, but also because I like to sleep, so when I read that he had a nine-hour sleep break, I had to smile gracefully. Congratulations, Brian.”
