Review of Suicide Squad Isekai Episode 10

Warning spoilers!!!

This article contains spoilers for Suicide Squad Isekai.

Suicide Squad Isekais The season finale was the epitome of a mix of magic and chaos. DC’s attempt at making a successful anime may deserve more credit, but they could have made so much more out of it. Implied and hinted at moments felt almost lackluster. At the same time, it found a path where the story also felt fulfilling and entertaining. The ten-episode journey, with its various ups and downs, has finally come to an end.

On one hand, a studio like WIT would have given the company the fame and support it needed, but on the other hand, the inconsistent quality of the animation made for even more problematic storytelling. Getting any Suicide Squad project off the ground is always a challenge, whether it’s the movies, the games, or the anime itself.

Suicide Squad Isekai’s Rise to Fame

One of my biggest complaints about the previous episode was Harley and her magical weapon. When the team has such a good marksman at their disposal, why give someone else an improved weapon instead? However, at the beginning of episode ten, this problem is almost immediately remedied. Cecil, who has been by her side for so long, puts himself in danger after using a grenade without fully understanding what it does. He passes his magical armor on to Deadshot, who then discovers how powerful it really is.

Nothing could have prepared me for the Suicide Squad to get anime girl transformations, and I’m all for it. Merging a magical world with their own twisted minds is the kind of stuff that would definitely capture fans’ attention. When it was announced that a Suicide Squad Anime was a work in progress, what I expected was nothing like what was shown, both for the good and the bad. While my complaints all relate to the previous episodes, my praise is focused on the finale.

As the fight continues, much of what was requested and almost expected finally comes true. This includes the expected use of similar looks by Fione and Harley. With a classic switch, the Undead Queen was beheaded in a snap. In addition, the strong power of the Sorceress was used wisely so as not to overshadow the entire squad.

The Suicide Squad were never heroes

Every single member of the Suicide Squad received a piece of Cecil’s Sacred Armor, which gave them all extraordinary powers and access to the world’s magic. The way this one move helps them transition into an anime-esque world may have surprised everyone, but it was definitely not unwelcome.

They all use their enhanced abilities to prove themselves, especially King Shark, who had been feeling down and useless. However, his need to protect his friends helped him create a place unlike any other. Despite their teamwork, it is not enough to defeat an army of the undead. As the force heads toward the Undead Queen, the Sorceress single-handedly takes command of the army.

Fione also gets her big moment. She uses not only magic but also her wits to behead the Undead Queen once and for all. She also ascends the throne and is rightfully crowned Queen after the world has experienced constant famine and bloodshed.

The harbinger of chaos: The Joker

Throughout the series, the Joker has played a supporting role, often appearing in Harley’s dreams and memories. The influence his spirit has had on the team has been nearly constant. As the team settles down after the war, they care little for their honor and reward, and only seek sustenance. Rick Flag then takes on the task of contacting Amanda Waller to inform her of the situation. This is where things take a real turn, making it clear that this was only the first season of the series.

Katana had never been part of any of the teams that had gone into the Isekai world. On the contrary, it was Joker who had impersonated her to humiliate and annoy her for capturing Harley. His reason for betraying the Undead Queen was simple: the Joker was bored. Her goals had been too rudimentary for him, but as long as chaos reigned, he would play along with her game.

When the matter was over, he claimed the crown as Emperor Joker. It would almost make sense why the fight between Katana and Harley was so captivating. While the Joker’s true intentions are unclear, he would bend any world over backwards if it meant Harley would enjoy it.

In the second season, Harley could break away from the Joker and her obsession with him. However, this would only be possible if he also grows tired of her. Although this seems unlikely at the moment, the Joker’s best trait is his unpredictable nature.

He could certainly take the front in the next season, whether by joining the force or going against them, I would probably assume the latter. He is notorious as a villain and that could just as quickly make Harley turn against the force.
