Luisa Melchionne is accused of sexual abuse

A Connecticut school counselor has been accused of sexually abusing a middle school student. Police alleged that she gave the child “lap dances,” among other things.

Luisa Melchionne, 47, who worked at Nathan Hale Middle School, was arrested July 11 and charged with sexual battery and endangering a child, Norwalk police said. It is not immediately clear if she has pleaded guilty.

According to an arrest warrant released by WFSB, an anonymous caller told police in April that he discovered inappropriate messages Melchionne allegedly sent to a student after borrowing her phone.

According to the arrest warrant, the caller later sent police screenshots of alleged text messages that contained explicit photos and financial transactions between Melchionne and the student.

After police discovered the child’s identity, they questioned the boy, who told police that Melchionne sent him nude photos and demanded them in return, the warrant states. The boy also told police she would send him money for food and Uber rides.

The boy, who first came into contact with the guidance counselor in 2023 and was in 7th grade, told investigators that he would meet Melchionne in her office, where she would perform sexual acts, including “lap dances” with him, the warrant states.

Melchionne’s defense attorney Mark Sherman said: The hour that his client had resigned from her position at the school. According to court documents, she was released on bail.

“These are just allegations,” Sherman told the newspaper. “What we do know is that these charges are being brought against a devoted wife and mother who has dedicated over 20 years to her profession, and it will take some time to investigate this case.”
