She should have thrown a paper ball.

Hailey Welch, better known as the “Hawk Tuah” girl, threw out the first pitch at a New York Mets game against the Oakland Athletics on Thursday. Welch, who went viral for her attitude toward oral sex, wore a No. 1 Mets jersey and threw a strike to a friend.

Then she spat on the field. Yes, that happened.

Welch received a mixed reception from Mets fans. Some cheered her, many booed her. Some criticized the Mets on social media for inviting her.

A day later, Welch tried to clarify the matter with X.

“I guess some of the baseball community wasn’t too happy to see me yesterday,” she wrote in a post on X. “The main reason I went to the game was to raise awareness and donate to America’s Vet Dogs, which matches dogs with war veterans to give them permanent homes.”

“Join me in donating to this amazing charity. I miss you already, buddy.”

America’s VetDogs is a nonprofit foundation dedicated to providing service dogs to first responders and veterans with disabilities.

Last month, Welch was on Bill Maher’s podcast and made a remark about her neighbors to the north. Perhaps she was talking about Wasaga Beach when she blurted out something about Canadians’ bathroom habits?

Welch, who is from a tiny part of Tennessee, told Maher she had heard that in Canada, everyone goes to the bathroom in outdoor restrooms. The joke came about after Maher joked that Welch and other people in her town might not have indoor restrooms.

“They don’t have an outdoor toilet where you throw mulch on your shit. I think that’s something they do in Canada,” Welch said. “Don’t they have outdoor toilets in Canada?”

Maher was confused and continued, “They don’t flush. You just throw shit on them.”

Maher tried to silence her, but Welch repeated, “There are no bathrooms there. There are only outside restrooms.”

Welch would have learned the truth if she had been able to attend the Calgary Stampede as planned. However, the portable toilets at the festival could have confused her. Either way, the plans fell through.
