Karan Johar is currently in Melbourne to attend the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.

Interestingly, this happened a month after Karan Johar opened up about his relationship status and said that he has been single for a very long time now and is no longer looking for a partner.

Karan Johar posted a cryptic message on his Instagram stories on Friday night, which spoke about “expectations from people” and “hurting.” “When you remove expectations from people, you take away their power to hurt your feelings,” the message read. Although KJo did not write anything in the caption, the post left netizens wondering if the director is okay.

Interestingly, this came a month after Karan Johar opened up about his relationship status and shared that he has been single for a very long time and is no longer looking for a partner. KJo was speaking to Faye D’souza when he mentioned that he has had “one and a half relationships” in his entire life and that he was actively seeking companionship in his 40s but stopped after he turned 50.

“I am single and I haven’t been in a relationship for a very long time. In fact, I have had one and a half relationships in my entire life. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy my single status. I don’t think I can change that now. Forget sharing a bathroom or bedroom or your space or schedule. I believe the power over your day lies with you. You are responsible for your kids and your mother, that’s all,” Karan said.

“When I turned 40, I felt the vacuum, but when I turned 50, I felt that I didn’t want it. I don’t block it, but now I don’t see it happening actively. I used agencies, went on blind dates and met people at home and abroad. Now, if I find it good, I have no need for it at all,” he added.

Johar, who is currently in Melbourne to attend the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, often shares cryptic messages on his Instagram account. Last year too, the filmmaker addressed a cryptic open letter to an “exhausted human” who wants to compliment someone. “Dear exhausted human… A warning! Any time you compliment someone that starts with SO… you are expected to end with a WOW,” he wrote.

“This is dangerous and may have consequences in the future. So please reconsider your verbal compliments. Love, a disgruntled trend wannabe,” he concluded. However, it was unclear whether Johar was addressing the letter to his fans or if it was directed at anyone.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Karan Johar returned to the director’s chair in 2023 after a seven-year hiatus with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which starred Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. His company Dharma Productions recently co-produced Kill, which stars Lakshay and Raghav Juyal in lead roles.
