A teenager was arrested after allegedly stabbing two victims and attacking a police officer in a San Mateo park on Thursday night, police said Friday.

San Mateo police said dispatchers received a 911 call shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday about a stabbing in Los Prados Park west of Foster City. The caller said a woman had just stabbed a male victim and was being held on the ground by a group of witnesses, police said.

Officers quickly arrived at the scene and found two men pinning the female suspect to the ground in the middle of the park. Police said officers grabbed the suspect’s arms as she held a knife and refused to comply with officers’ requests to drop it.

According to a press release, she bit an officer as officers attempted to pull the knife from her hand. The knife was eventually pulled from her hand and she was handcuffed, police said. The girl was identified as a 16-year-old San Mateo resident.

Investigators learned that the teen approached one of the victims with a knife and yelled threateningly. The victim tried to walk away, but the teen allegedly swung the knife at him, police said. The victim was stabbed in the hand while shielding his face from the knife, police said.

A witness who rushed to the victim’s aid was also stabbed in the hand, police said. Both male victims were holding the suspect when police arrived and their injuries required treatment at a local hospital.

Officers took the suspect to Hillcrest Juvenile Detention Center. He was charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated resisting an officer, battery on a peace officer and assault.

San Mateo police asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the department.
