Cleo’s big turn in Lady in the Lake Episode 6 reveals that she was not, in fact, killed by Stephan, Reggie or anyone else. In the penultimate episode of the new Apple crime contemporary piece Cleo Johnson (Moses Ingram) appears in the final scene to reveal to Maddie Schwartz (Natalie Portman) that she is actually alive. This comes as a huge surprise to Maddie, who had been trying everything to find out the truth about Cleo Johnson’s mysterious disappearance and murder. Maddie was trying to make connections to the brutal murder of Tessie Durst, the 11-year-old daughter of her ex-boyfriend Alan (David Corenswet).
