Former Charlotte Hornets guard Theo Maledon returns to his roots

French point guard Theo Maledon is starting a new chapter in his basketball career, signing with ASVEL Basket in his native France. After spending two seasons with the Charlotte Hornets, Maledon returns to the team where he began his professional career.

During his time in Charlotte, Maledon averaged 6.1 points, 3.2 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 57 games. His playmaking ability and game reading were evident, but he struggled to get consistent playing time in a crowded backcourt.

The move to ASVEL is a homecoming for Maledon, who played for the team’s youth team before making his professional debut in 2017. He was instrumental in ASVEL’s 2019 French League championship and was named the LNB Pro A’s best young player this season.

Maledon’s return to ASVEL is a chance for him to find his form and continue his development in a familiar environment. He will play in a league he knows well and have the opportunity to fight for a starting position.
