McLaren Health confirms ransomware attack, says recovery will take until August

LANSING, Michigan (WILX) – McLaren Health confirmed that the latest cyberattack was a ransomware attack, the company said Friday.

The attack affected 13 hospitals, cancer centers, surgery centers and clinics. Reconstruction is expected to take until August.

Access to certain systems remains restricted, the statement said.

McLaren plans to notify a patient or customer if their data is compromised.

Anyone who has made an appointment with McLaren should attend as usual unless contacted by a McLaren representative.

“Our employees are a true inspiration. Under extremely difficult circumstances, McLaren teams on the front lines and in support roles across the state have answered the call. From doctors and nurses to dietitians, administrative assistants, patient advocates and all other team members, our patients, their families and our communities will be forever grateful for your resilience and kindness. Thank you,” said President Phil Incarnati.
