Damian Priest breaks his silence on WWE removing Edge from Judgment Day, even though he thought the release was imminent

There is a WWE documentary about Damian Priest that is live now and is definitely worth watching as it details everything he overcame to become not only a serious Superstar for the promotion, but ultimately Heavyweight Champion; and a large part of that was thanks to the mentorship of Hall of Fame Superstar Edge.

Edge is the founder of Judgment Day and his first recruit was Priest, who immediately catapulted him into the spotlight before bringing Rhea Ripley into the faction and helping her achieve star status in a similar way.

The two eventually betrayed Edge before taking over the faction themselves, but that was pure fiction, because if it had been up to them, this unexpected plot twist would never have happened.

“We just had a big moment when we joined forces and formed The Judgment Day,” Priest told Sports Illustrated via Fightful. “It felt like no time had passed and then it was Edge telling me he was being taken out of the group. He was waiting to tell me one night after TV when we were on the road.”

At that moment, Priest’s heart sank.

After all, it was Edge who made Judgment Day what it was, and from the fans’ perspective, he was also the one who shaped it the most. When Edge was cut from the WWE, Priest thought his career was literally over.

Therefore, Priest really believed that the WWE was about to kick him out.

“I thought we were done,” he explained. “I was so upset. When Rhea found out, she was even more upset than I was. Edge was upset, too. I still talk to him – he was one of our biggest supporters. When he told me, I remember he said, ‘All of this for nothing.’ And I repeated that: for nothing. That’s how it felt at the time.

“I was waiting for the call to be released. Obviously, things turned out completely differently.”

Actually much, much different.

Priest and Ripley, the “Terror Twins,” are currently at war with Liv Morgan’s version of Judgment Day—a huge plot twist considering Morgan and Finn Balor once attempted to defeat Edge’s version of the faction, which included Priest and Ripley.

Priest is just grateful to still be here and be a part of one of the greatest stories in professional wrestling.
