Ultra-fast rookie RB of the Dolphins named “Draft Day bargain” after strong preseason

The mystery surrounding Jaylen Wright at the Miami Dolphins will not last much longer.

Wright, a fourth-round pick of the Dolphins, came out explosively in his team’s first preseason game, averaging 5.5 touchdowns per run on 10 attempts.

What was once a secret that didn’t get much attention is now known nationwide. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report calls Wright one of the 10 rookies who are already considered a bargain:

“Although the Dolphins’ backfield is probably too crowded for Wright to prove himself as an every-down runner this season, it looks like the rookie can be much more than just a quick and flashy change of pace.”

The Miami backfield may be crowded, with Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane already at the top of the order, but Wright’s 4.38-second 40-yard dash speed and his track record, thanks to his 7.4 yards per carry at Tennessee last season, have generated plenty of buzz during training camp.

Considering that Achane only played in 11 games last season and the 32-year-old Mostert made 209 appearances, there is room in the rotation for a third running back – and Wright could have enough power to earn more than Jeff Wilson Jr.’s 41 appearances last season.

Wright always seemed like a good player and fit well in Mike McDaniel’s offense alongside Tua Tagovailoa. Indeed, his explosive NFL debut no longer makes him look like a dark horse, but rather a candidate for a steal and a breakout.
