What is not has been a fixture in dance music for over a decade. The quality and range of his music is a testament to his talent as a producer. There is no question that the scene is better when he is performing and releasing songs. Today, What So Not presents his “love letter to dance music” with his EP. Applications. Four tracks in with the soulful and ethereal “What So Not” and it is spectacular.

The previously published “Lights go out” with Benson And Lucy LucyAnd “Slow Movement” with IMANU And MND the mood for the project, which is transcendent and calm, unlike some of his other harder works that are just as good. The lead single “Realize” with Habract And Mayah Manser sees Manser’s stunning vocals blend perfectly with a bed of warm synths and a smooth DnB beat.”Tower in the forest” with MND is the kind of track that you know after two seconds of listening that it’s a What So Not production. The verse carries a melody that makes you want to lie down and stare at the stars.

In addition, each track on the EP is accompanied by an accompanying cinematic visualizer, further proof of What So Not’s creativity as an artist and expression of his art not only sonically, but also visually.

What So Not says about the visuals for the EP:

“For every song I write, I have a place in my mind that I go to. A singular destination that fills the senses and allows me to return to the same stream of consciousness to complete the work. I have often tried to commission works that reflect these attitudes and harmonize with the audio, but with so many technical advances opening up new possibilities, I have really enjoyed diving headfirst into this new medium of expression myself.”

And about the music, What So Not says:

“What does that feeling sound like? That texture? How does one audibly reflect what it’s like to walk barefoot through the grass on a misty autumn morning? Where do I draw my creativity from and what do these visions represent in my psyche? This was my exploration through this EP.”
