Jeff Goldblum interrupts interview to get Fly safely out of the studio

Jeff Goldblum is hosting “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” this week, but he briefly interrupted his interview with “Jackpot!” star Awkwafina on Thursday night to safely escort a fly out of the studio. Yes, a fly in the truest sense of the word.

When the actor from “The Fly” returned from a commercial break in the interview, he was immediately distracted and revealed that he had been informed during the break that a fly had landed on his desk and stayed there.

“See, it’s not dead!” he marveled. “It’s not dead. I don’t know why it’s just – it’s just there. It doesn’t seem to want to move. I mention that because I played in La Mouche, ‘The Fly.’ I was the fly. So that’s just mighty strange.”

From there, Goldblum decided to take the fly to safety, explaining that he always tells his children, “Don’t hurt anything.” So the actor gently coaxed the fly onto a piece of paper and had Kimmel’s buddy Guillermo slowly take the paper outside.

“That’s so beautiful, Jeff,” Awkwafina marveled as Goldblum instructed Guillermo to take the fly to “a beautiful flower.”

“This is incredible. Come on, this is a magical moment!” Goldblum said when the fly was safely out. And from then on, the actor continued his interview as if nothing had happened.

You can watch the entire process in the video above.
