Mars was the first headliner in Los Angeles’ new arena Intuit Dome

On Thursday evening In Los Angeles, Bruno Mars invited Lady Gaga to join him in performing the tender new ballad “Die With a Smile” live. Mars headlined the very first show at the new Intuit Dome arena in Inglewood.

Mars and Gaga joined forces on streaming shortly after the song’s release. Just like in the video, the pair kept their live performance simple, taking cues from the Western aesthetic they used to promote the song. With Mars on guitar and Gaga on keyboard, the pair made their towering vocals the focus as they belted out the romantic song. After Gaga left the stage, Mars reprised the chorus with his full band.

The pair had hinted at the collaboration on social media by wearing each other’s merchandise in solo posts. This is the first new song from both of them in a while; Mars’ last release was in 2021 as part of the superduo Silk Sonic with Anderson .Paak. Gaga’s last album was in 2020 Chromaticaalthough she did sing the Rolling Stones’ “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” with Stevie Wonder last year. Both Mars and Gaga have remained active since their last solo releases, keeping busy with Las Vegas residencies and their respective tours. Gaga has hinted at the upcoming release of her seventh studio album while also beginning to promote her new film. Joker: Foil for Two. When she announced the new song with Mars, she signaled to her fans that the new project was on the way by writing in the caption: “WHILE YOU WAIT FOR LG7…”
