A Chinese woman was escorted off a plane by police because she refused to put her $3,000 Louis Vuitton handbag on the floor for takeoff.

The drama surrounding the designer bag occurred on August 10 on a flight from Jiangbei International Airport. A fellow passenger filmed the events and posted them on the Chinese social media site Douyin.

To comply with basic safety regulations, the flight crew asked the passenger to stow her high-quality handbag under the seat.

However, the woman flying in economy class refused to put the bag on the seat next to her.

She then started playing on her mobile phone and ignored the cabin crew

Her behavior caused the pilot to return to the gate, where the police entered the plane and arrested the lady with the Louis.

In the video shared online, fellow passengers could be heard cheering as the woman was escorted off the plane.

Viewers of the clip were divided about the incident, with some saying cabin crew escalated the situation.

“The flight attendant could have offered her a bag to put her purse in,” explained one Douyin user. “Is it really necessary to waste an hour and throw her off the plane?”

Others sharply criticized the selfish passenger.

“The flight attendant didn’t insist on this rule for nothing,” complained one person. “The woman should put more emphasis on her own safety and that of the other passengers than on her bag.”
