The Last of Us star had “extra security” after landing the role of Abby

The Last of Us Star Kaitlyn Dever had to hire “extra security” after she was cast in the role of antagonist Abby in the second season, co-star Isabela Merced revealed.

After a critically acclaimed first season covering the events of the 2013 video game The Last of Usin which Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) travel through a post-apocalyptic United States overrun by zombie-causing fungi is now in full swing.

A recent teaser gave a taste of Catherine O’Hara’s mysterious role, and the second season is expected to largely follow the 2020 video game sequel. The Last of Us: Part IIand fans know that this means the introduction of new characters like Ellie’s friend Dina (played by Isabela Merced) and new antagonist Abby.

Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever, divided fans when the game was released, largely due to a shocking plot development.

In conversation with Josh Horowitz from the Happy Sad Confused In the podcast, Merced explained: “There are so many weird people in this world, because there are actually people who really hate Abby. Who is not a real person. Just a reminder!”

She added: “Kaitlyn had to be extra careful and hire security when it came to filming.”

Abby, it is fair to say, is not the most popular character among The Last of Us fans.

The second game is about Ellie’s quest for revenge against Abby, but players control both women in different parts of the game. First, they take on the role of Ellie as she travels across the states to find Abby and her friends, but after three days in an unrecognizable Seattle, the game jumps back in time and players then control Abby during the same three days to uncover her own story.

There is also an exciting epilogue that takes place in sunny Santa Barbara several months after the two storylines converge.

A possible third or even fourth season is hinted at for The Last of Uswho knows how the television program will report on these events…

The Last of Us is scheduled to return in both the US and UK next year.
