The NASCAR Cup Series is coming to Michigan, the regular season is coming to an end

There are only three races left in the NASCAR Cup Series regular season as drivers battle to the finish – starting with a trip to Michigan International Speedway.

After a thrilling race last weekend at Richmond Raceway, the NASCAR Cup Series will rev its engines for the FireKeepers Casino 400, which begins with the green flag at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Entering the playoffs, Kyle Larson currently leads the Cup drivers’ standings, five points ahead of Tyler Reddick in second and six points ahead of Chase Elliott in third. Denny Hamlin rounds out the top four, just 21 points behind Larson and within striking distance.

All four will try to maximize their hopes of winning the Cup Series regular season title and the 15 bonus playoff points that come with it after the season finale at Darlington Raceway on September 1.

Chris Buescher took the checkered flag in Michigan last season – this time too he needed a win to secure a spot in the Cup Series playoffs.

The speedway stretches across more than 1,400 acres in the Irish Hills of southeast Michigan. The two-mile paved track with 18-degree banking in the corners is hosting the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and ARCA Menards Series this weekend.
