Grand jury indicts man for murder and rape of 13-year-old girl in Orlando

A grand jury in Orange County has formally indicted a man accused of raping and murdering a 13-year-old girl.

On Wednesday, 28-year-old Jerry Loreeson Dorisme was charged with first-degree murder, armed kidnapping with intent to inflict bodily harm or terrorize, sexual assault (with a deadly weapon or physical force) and attempted sexual assault (with a deadly weapon or physical force) in connection with the death of 13-year-old Rose Thalie Dieujuste.

Dorisme was arrested on Thursday, July 11.

A week before Dorisme’s arrest, Orange County Sheriff’s Office officers responded to the 4400 block of South Rio Grande Avenue around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, for a report that a young girl was found unconscious, according to the OCSO.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Dieujuste and discovered that she had been stabbed. She was taken to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.

A murder investigation was launched and the sheriff’s office began working “tirelessly” to uncover information that would lead to the person responsible for Dieujuste’s death.

On July 10, the OCSO released photos and video footage of a “person of interest in connection with the July 4 murder of 13-year-old Rose Dieujuste.”

After receiving several tips from community members regarding the above video footage, the Sheriff’s Office was able to identify Dorisme as the person they were looking for. He was then tracked down by detectives and arrested for first-degree murder.

“Since the afternoon of July 4, our homicide detectives have been working around the clock to find Rose Dieujuste’s killer,” the sheriff’s office said in a July 11 news release. “We are pleased to report that thanks to their hard work – and the help of our community – an arrest has been made in this case.”
