Ceiling: His three-point percentage improves, the gap between his assists and turnovers widens, and he returns to the All-NBA squad.

After signing a historic contract extension last summer, Brown carried the weight of the basketball world on his shoulders, but that didn’t stop him from putting together a special season, ending it on a high note by being named MVP of both the Eastern Conference Finals and the NBA Finals.

He could have been a touch more productive, though, a sentiment apparently shared by the All-NBA voters who kept him off those rosters. Regaining his All-NBA spot is doable, especially if he can get his three-point percentage (34.8 percent over the past three seasons; 39 over the previous two) up and create more spacing with his assist averages (3.6) and turnovers (2.4).

Floor: His shooting percentage deteriorates, his turnovers increase, and he is once again left off an All-NBA team.

Brown’s decline in shooting from beyond the arc is real. Not only has he seen a drop in his percentage, but his shooting percentage has also dropped. In the 2020-21 season, he averaged 2.8 three-pointers on 39.7 percent shooting. Last season, those numbers dropped to 2.1 and 35.4, respectively. He also couldn’t find his touch from the free throw line last season (70.3 percent).

If he’s not an efficient shooter, it could put pressure on his playmaking. That hasn’t been a huge advantage for him so far. Just two seasons ago, his averages for assists (3.5) and turnovers (2.9) were worryingly close. If his shooting remains unreliable and he can’t control his turnovers, he could once again be left off the All-NBA teams.
