Apple has added more Apple Intelligence features in its latest developer betas for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1, including the ability to quickly and easily remove objects from photos using AI.

Ivan Mehta for TechCrunch:

The Clean Up feature allows users to identify and remove objects in images without affecting the rest of the photo. Users can select an object using smart detection and remove it with just a tap. They can also drag a circle or brush over unwanted objects to erase them from the image.

According to Apple, the feature uses AI to generate the background when you remove an object from an image. Apple said the system even understands shadows or reflections from objects and ensures that these are removed when filling the background.
