A man is alleged to have raped a 14-year-old girl after soliciting her on an online chat platform.

Police allege a 29-year-old man spoke to a 14-year-old girl via an online chat platform and met her twice in south Brisbane in June this year.

On July 10, the incident was reported to the police and an investigation was launched.

On July 11, a search warrant was executed at an address in Underwood, Logan, Queensland, and the 29-year-old man was taken into custody the same day.

He is now accused of two counts of rape and sexual abuse of a child under the age of 16.

The man is due to appear in Wynnum Local Court on September 16.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone who may have experienced something similar to come forward.
