Thanks to Katie Holmes, I’ve been given new homework: to recreate one of my new favorite style moments. And luckily, it’s not hard work, nor do I have to do it at home—it’s actually so much fun to dress up.
On Monday, the 45-year-old smiled for the cameras on the streets of New York in a floral turtleneck blouse, relaxed black jeans and mules with tiny heels that remind me of Meghan Markle’s comfortable shoes, just a little bit fancier.
And like many of us, she couldn’t leave the house without a handbag. Lately, she’s been showing off her collection of tote bags, but this time she’s returned to the more compact model she wore in April and last December: a chic shoulder bag that Jennifer Garner also owns.

What I love most about Holmes’ bag is the fact that it looks like both a shoulder bag and a crossbody bag. The strap is long, but the bag doesn’t quite hang down to her hips—and this one from Amazon can do that, too. It has two straps so you can wear it exactly where you want, and the little gold accents even remind me of the ones you see on designer bags.
