A candid piece of dating advice that Prince William once gave to his brother, Prince Harry, regarding Meghan Markle led to the failure of their relationship.

According to a British publication citing a biography, “Finding freedomWilliam had always been very protective of his brother, adding that the brothers always attracted people who wanted to take advantage of them.

The book was written by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.

When Prince Harry began dating the Suits actress, Prince William told his brother, according to a source in the book, “Take as much time as you need to get to know this girl.”

However Business Insider quoted the biography as saying that Harry recognized snobbery. “Harry saw through William’s words. He was a snob,” a family friend is said to have said.

The moment William urged Harry to take things slow with Meghan is considered, according to an excerpt from the book, to be the moment the previously strong bond between the two brothers broke down.

“William didn’t know much about Meghan; he wanted to make sure Harry wasn’t taken by surprise by lust,” another source is quoted as saying in the book.

Gossip within the royal family exacerbated tensions between the brothers, and according to the biography, a senior royal even called Meghan “Harry’s showgirl.”

The book states that two months after this conversation, the brothers barely communicated with each other and rarely visited each other at home.
