CAMBRIDGE –– An investment of $500,000 will enable Plastic Compounders to expand its production facility and create five new jobs.

The company recently announced the investment in collaboration with JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE) and the Cambridge-Guernsey County Community Improvement Corporation.

Plastic Compounders recycles post-industrial milled products into pellets and processes them into a wide range of bulk and engineered resins for various markets, including packaging, horticulture, toys and housewares. According to a new press release, the expansion will add an eighth extrusion line to the company’s operations.

“Our sincere thanks go to JobsOhio, OhioSE and the Cambridge-Guernsey County Community Improvement Corporation for their invaluable support,” said Scott Eubanks, vice president of Plastic Compounders, in the release. “This grant will enable Plastic Compounders to expand our operations, create jobs and continue to effectively serve our community and customers.”

As a second chance employer, Plastic Compounders partners with the Guernsey County Probation Department and other programs to provide employment to people on probation and in rehabilitation programs.

“Plastic Compounders is a generational family business that has provided jobs to area residents since 1965,” said Bill Arnett, executive director of the Cambridge-Guernsey County Community Improvement Corporation, in the press release.

A $25,000 JobsOhio Small Business Grant is supporting the expansion, and OhioSE has assisted the company with the application process. The grant provides money to support the growth of small businesses that face unique challenges because they are either located in a qualified zip code or owned by a qualified population, which includes minorities, women, veterans and people with disabilities. To qualify, the company must have a qualified project and meet company size and industry requirements.

“We congratulate Plastic Compounders on its decision to invest in Guernsey County,” said Katy Farber, interim president of OhioSE. “We are grateful that the JobsOhio Small Business Grant will be used to support the company’s continued investments.”
