Duke Football repeats the “Brotherhood Look” from Week 1 of last year

Much of what worked under Mike Elko and led to back-to-back winning seasons and bowl victories didn’t need to be adjusted when Duke football head coach Manny Diaz arrived in January. So Diaz’s squad will apparently match the Blue Devils’ strength from last season’s 28-7 home victory over then-No. 9 Clemson in Week 1 and wear the same helmets and jersey/pants combination first used in the program’s historic win.

The Duke football team’s social media team revealed the selected apparel Wednesday night in the video posted below, approximately 48 hours before the Blue Devils begin their 2024 season at home against FCS opponent Elon.

Of course, the helmets – white with navy blue lettering – reflect the gothic font of the Duke basketball program’s popular Brotherhood jerseys, which first appeared in January 2020 toward the end of Mike Krzyzewski’s legendary career.

As for the blue Duke jerseys with block lettering and white pants with blue stripes, that combination alone is a standard Blue Devils home jersey.

Manny Diaz’s Blue Devils and the Phoenix face off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday at Wallace Wade Stadium (ACC Network).
