Two suspects arrested in connection with death of 12-year-old Dayton girl

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) – Dayton police sources say two suspects have been arrested in connection with the death of a 12-year-old girl who was shot in her bed while she was sleeping Friday morning.

According to the Montgomery County Jail, Antawan Benson and Javen Conner are due in court Thursday at 1:45 p.m. Benson is charged with possession of a weapon while under disability. Connor is charged with murder. Police sources said both were suspects in the death of Isabella’s Amor-Carlos and were arrested by a homicide detective.

Earlier this week, Miami Valley Crime Stoppers announced it was offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to suspects. According to police, about 37 bullets were fired at the scene during the shooting, hitting houses 33, 39 and 41 on West Fairview Avenue. Police did not believe her house was the intended target.

Earlier this week, Dayton Police Major Brian Johns said, “We are trying our best to get justice for Isabella and her family, and that’s why we’re here today. A lot of people who have been investigating these crimes have had a very busy summer. So they’ve had very little sleep, myself included, but we’re trying to make that happen and make arrests in this case.”
