Apple prepares a fast and racy iPhone 17 Pro Max with additional cooling

The iPhone 17 series is expected to bring a number of new features for Apple, and one of the new features will be the inclusion of a more robust cooling system in the largest and most expensive handset in the range.
According to a renowned Apple analyst Ming Chi KuoThe iPhone17 For the first time, Pro Max will feature a vapor chamber as an additional passive cooling solution and not just graphite plates like the rest of the iPhone range.

Currently, Apple uses a combination of hardware and software cooling, such as heat-dissipating graphite plates, throttling the processor clock speed during sustained use, reducing the screen brightness, and even shutting down the phone when necessary.

Vapor chambers work on the heat pipe principle, providing a flat, vacuum-sealed enclosure with a small amount of liquid inside. When heat comes into contact with the attached cooling fins, the liquid evaporates and condenses in cooler areas, absorbing the heat. It is then returned to the heat source in a never-ending cycle, making the system run more stable and with less thermal throttling.

By adding a steam chamber, the iPhone17 Pro Max is designed to stay cooler under pressure for longer and could be a harbinger of what’s to come for the Apple A19 series processor. The Apple A18 Pro chipset that will power the iPhone 16 Pro Max is already rumored to break the 4GHz clock speed barrier, so Apple could potentially be cooking up something even faster and more powerful for the 2025 flagship iPhone.
Apple is preparing to release the iPhone 16 series with the same processor series across the entire lineup, something it hasn’t done for a while. However, it will still find a way to separate the regular from the Pro models in terms of processing power. The A18 chip for the iPhone16 will reportedly have a smaller cache size and one less graphics processor core than the A18 Pro in iPhone 16 Pro Max.
