Apple’s iOS 18.1 beta introduces Clean Up, an AI-powered tool to effortlessly remove objects in photos.

Apple has released its latest developer beta for iOS18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1. This new tool allows users to easily remove unwanted objects from their photos.

Clean Up allows you to identify and remove objects in an image without affecting the rest of the picture. The feature offers intelligent detection so that users can select and delete an object with just a tap. Moreover, you can drag a circle or brush over any unwanted areas to delete them seamlessly. The AI ​​behind Clean Up ensures that the background is automatically generated and fills in the gaps left by the removed objects. Impressively, the system also takes shadows and reflections into account, ensuring a natural look.

This feature is reminiscent of Google’s Magic Eraser, which was introduced for Google Photos earlier this year, but Apple’s Clean Up offers a twist all its own, leveraging the company’s advances in artificial intelligence to deliver a smooth and user-friendly experience.

The Clean Up feature is part of Apple’s broader initiative to integrate more AI features into its software. Since July, Apple has been testing various Apple Intelligence Features in the developer betas of iOS 18.1.
