The story centers on Pip Fitz-Amobi, a 17-year-old who lives in the sleepy fictional British town of Little Kilton in Buckinghamshire. But the town is anything but quiet, having been struck by a great tragedy five years earlier when teenager Andie Bell disappeared and was presumed dead. Her boyfriend Sal Singh took his own life in an alleged murder-suicide plot.

However, star pupil Pip is not satisfied with this conclusion and undertakes her own investigation for her EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) at secondary school. She teams up with Sal’s younger brother Ravi to find out what happened and who might have framed Sal if her suspicions are correct.

She leaves no stone unturned and the more people she questions, the more she learns about the dark secrets of her city. But the deeper she delves into the secrets, the more her own life and that of the people she loves is at stake.
