Three-time Grammy winner Zac Brown Band headlines PC Late Night Madness

Providence College has booked a little taste of country music for its annual Late Night Madness basketball event next month.

The Friars announced Monday morning that the Zac Brown Band will headline the Amica Mutual Pavilion on Oct. 19. The three-time Grammy winners will perform as part of a program that also includes light basketball activities and performances by some of the community’s dance and singing groups.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the evening program begins 30 minutes later. The event is part of the school’s Homecoming Weekend and follows previous performances by the likes of John Legend, Khalid and OneRepublic. Providence coaches Kim English and Erin Batth will appear along with their teams.

The Friars will introduce their members and hold a three-point competition before the accompanying entertainment begins. Providence announced that the A Capella Club, Irish Dance Club, Dance Company, Dance Club and Motherland Dance Group will perform. Student and school tickets should go on sale before the public sale.

The Zac Brown Band performed at Gillette Stadium over the weekend with Kenny Chesney, Uncle Kracker and Megan Moroney as part of the New England Country Music Festival. The group was inducted into the Fenway Music Hall of Fame in 2022 and is currently on a run of sold-out shows at Fenway Park. They have sold more than nine million albums and produced 16 singles that reached No. 1 on various radio stations.
