Can Justin Thomas make it to the FedEx Cup playoffs?

Last year he missed the FedEx Cup playoffs for the first time since his PGA Tour debut in 2014. Now Justin Thomas is hoping to make a comeback when he enters the playoffs in 2024. At 19th in the FedEx Cup rankings, he could be an outside candidate to win the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

During the year, Thomas had five top-10s and eight top-25s. The two-time major champion’s best result was at the American Express, where he finished third. The tournament took place in January and marked Thomas’s return to the spotlight. His best major result was at the PGA Championship in June, where he finished eighth.

He currently ranks 13th with a 4.24 birdie average per round. He also ranks 12th in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green. His average is 1.112. He will look to stay in the mix at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and remain in the top 50 of the FedEx Cup standings.

Justin Thomas is considered one of the betting favorites for the FedEx St. Jude title.

According to PGA Tour lead analyst Brett Jungles, he could win the trophy on Sunday. “I expect a little bit of firepower behind Thomas after he missed the FedEx Cup Playoffs last year – he proved to be very comfortable at the TPC Southwind,” Jungles said.

Thomas has won the championship once before. He was the winner at St. Jude in 2020, winning by three strokes. He is yet to win on Tour this year. If he stays focused, continues to play well and can make some putts, he should stay in the top 50. However, a win could help him secure his first FedEx Cup title since 2017.
