11-year-old girl killed in weekend accident identified

The identity of an 11-year-old girl who died in a car crash in Stockton over the weekend was determined Monday by the San Joaquin County coroner’s office.

Queen Norwood of Stockton died in hospital Sunday morning after a car crash in the 5800 block of N. El Dorado Street near Swain Avenue that involved six children.

Police said they arrived at the scene at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday after a vehicle crashed into a tree.

Five girls aged 11 to 15 and a 13-year-old boy were found at the crime scene.

Norwood was taken to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries, police said.

The other children were taken to a hospital and are expected to survive.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for Norwood and can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-us-in-giving-our-queen-the-home-going-she-deserves.

The police could not determine who was driving the car or what the cause of the accident was.

However, they assumed that the minors were the only occupants of the vehicle.

A Stockton police spokesman said the investigation was still in its early stages and they could not yet confirm who was sitting where or who was the driver.

“We encourage parents to always know where their children are and to keep an eye on their car keys. We will not tolerate anyone driving illegally and beyond their means,” said a Stockton police spokesman. “Our thoughts are with the family and everyone involved.”
