The biggest new signings in Serie A so far

Serie A clubs have once again become strong contenders in European football. In recent seasons, teams such as Roma, Inter and Atalanta have regularly reached European finals. Atalanta won its first European title by beating Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final. Meanwhile, Fiorentina reached the Conference League final two seasons in a row, but failed both times. This increasing competitiveness has made Italy an attractive destination for top players looking for new challenges. As a result, there have been several major new arrivals recently that will impact the performance and chances of winning in European competitions for Italian teams.

Alvaro Morata − Milan

Alvaro Morata’s move to Milan is one of the most notable transfers of the season. One of the most talented strikers of his generation, Morata brings with him a wealth of experience in Serie A. He previously played for Juventus before moving to Atlético Madrid.

During his time at Juventus, he formed a good duo with Carlos Tevez in the 2014–15 season.

Morata’s career has seen him stand out at top clubs such as Chelsea, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid. His impressive career statistics include over 550 games in which he scored more than 230 goals.

Last season, Morata showed his talent by scoring 21 goals in 48 appearances for Atlético Madrid. He is seen as an ideal replacement for the ageing Olivier Giroud and will bring fresh energy to Milan. His recent European Championship triumph with Spain as captain of the national team only enhances his reputation.

As Milan looks to regain its position among Europe’s elite clubs, the signing of Morata is a strategic move to strengthen its attacking options and increase its competitiveness.

Artem Dovbyk to Rome

Another big signing in Serie A is the transfer of Artem Dovbyk from Girona to Roma. The news was anticipated by Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and confirmed by Roma in early August. Dovbyk’s arrival will strengthen Roma’s attacking line-up.

The Ukrainian striker had an outstanding season in La Liga, finishing as top scorer with 24 goals in 36 games, surpassing notable names such as Jude Bellingham and Alexander Sorloth.

Dovbyk’s international achievements further underline his abilities, as he was instrumental in Ukraine’s successful qualification for the European Championship. Before joining Girona, he played for Dnipro-1 and Midtjylland, where he honed his skills and established himself as a successful striker. Led by coach Daniele De Rossi, Roma will be looking to build on their recent successes and challenge for top honours in both domestic and European competitions.

Douglas Luiz to Juventus

Known for his dynamic style of play, this young midfielder joined the Bianconeri from Aston Villa, where he spent five successful years. Luiz’s ability to switch play from defence to attack has drawn comparisons to players such as N’Golo Kante. His impressive performances last season, which included ten goals and ten assists in 53 games, had caught the attention of several top clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester City.

Luiz’s arrival in Turin is seen as an important step in solving Juventus’ midfield problems. Despite having a strong attacking duo in Dusan Vlahovic and Kenan Yildiz, the team often lost one-on-one duels in midfield.

New Juventus coach Thiago Motta brings fresh energy and tactics to the team and Luiz is expected to play a crucial role in transforming the midfield dynamic. Motta, who enjoyed notable success with Bologna last season, is optimistic that Luiz’s signing will boost Juventus’ competitiveness and bring them the Scudetto after a three-year wait.
