Get to the A-list faster: With the new promotion from Southwest Airlines you get 4 fast routes to elite status

Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards offers a new promotional offer four Opportunities to accelerate progress toward elite status.

Sign in to your Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards account. Under “My Account” you will see special offers and you can register for the offer.

Typically, Southwest Airlines status requires:

  • A-List: 25 flights or 35,000 qualifying points
  • A-list preferred: 50 flights or 70,000 qualifying points

The biggest benefit of status for me is an earlier “boarding number” that lets you secure your seat selection. Of course, there are other priority benefits and free WiFi and more points for the higher “A-List Preferred” tier, but I consider boarding before those who pay for “early bird check-in” to be the real benefit. Of course, that will change completely when Southwest moves to assigned seating. Of course, we could see elites gain access to new premium seats.

The airline has just been aggressively offering status, and now there are four ways to earn that status faster through November 30.

  1. Double status points for flights And triple credit when booking via a business channel (“GDS, SWABIZ® or one of our Direct Connect/API partners”).
  2. Award flights count as qualifying flights Each segment is a tier-qualifying flight if booked after enrollment and completed by November 30. You may want to rebook some existing awards.
  3. Credit card spending plays a bigger role in status by earning 2,000 status points for every $5,000 spent with a Southwest co-branded card on top of normal qualifying points earned by spending on those products. (And they’ve already doubled the rate at which you earn credits for card spending this year.)
  4. Earn from partner activitiesEach base point earned through qualified partners counts as a tier point toward status, up to 5,000 qualifying points.

These include Southwest Hotels, Car Rentals, Rapid Rewards Shopping, Rapid Rewards Dining, Laithwaites, 1-800-Flowers, NRG including Reliant and Xoom, Energy Plus, Harry and David, and Rewards for Opinions.

This is not targeted. Trips booked through Southwest Vacations Packages are excluded from this promotion. Bonus Elite Qualifying Points from flights will be credited within 72 hours of travel. Bonuses earned by credit card will be credited “within 4 weeks of the end of each month and through 12/30/2024 for November purchases.”
