The world is Mia’s dance floor

Mia Beyers amazed the audience with her near-perfect jazz solo and was crowned overall winner of the Dance Face Challenge (DFC) Mpumalanga 2024 competition.

The competition took place on 23 and 24 August at the WH de Klerk School.

Ilze-Mari Homan.

Mia impressed the jury with her versatility and technical skills. She achieved 98% and received a diamond certificate.

Mia is from the Reaché Dance Academy.

During the two days, juror Pinto Ferreira had the difficult task of evaluating the 150 entries presented over the two days.

Pinto sees dance as a call of passion.

He teaches at the Tshwane University of Technology in the dance and musical theatre departments.

The styles Pinto had to judge included acrobatics, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, modern, open, acro-character, disco, freestyle, duos and groups.

“All this would not have been possible without the participation of the studios: BodyWorX Dance Studio from eMalahleni, Extreme Dance Studio from Middelburg and Julie-Ann’s School of Dance in Secunda and Boksburg. Everything was a great success and all glory goes to our Heavenly Father. I would also like to thank all the DFC crew members who made this event an unforgettable one: Pierre Pelser, Vanessa Pelser, Johan Broodryk, Juanita Jansen van Rensburg, JP Pelser, Chantel Bruce, Matthew Callado, Wildré Oosthuizen and Henri Westermann,” said the owner and director of the competition, Werner Pelser.

“It started as a virtual competition because of Covid-19, so that the dancers could be themselves and compete again during these difficult times. Since then, we have grown and currently hold two competitions a year, one in the Free State and one in Mpumalanga. Next year we are aiming for Gauteng as well,” Werner said.

Mia Grobler.

DFC is not affiliated with any dance studio or organization and is open to all dance styles.

The competition was tough and pushed the dancers to their limits. Each performance was unique and demonstrated the talent and passion of the participating dancers.
