Carabao Cup draw LIVE!

The draw for the third round of the Carabao Cup takes place tonight, with 32 teams set to learn their assignments for the next stage of the competition. The Premier League clubs playing in European matches this season all enter the fray at this stage, but aside from Chelsea, they will play separately to avoid unwanted chaos in the fixture list, as UEFA has made significant overhauls to both the Champions League and Europa League.

None of Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Tottenham or Manchester United can meet in round three as those clubs have already taken part in a preliminary draw tonight to determine who plays home or away. Last night’s winners and the winners of Wednesday night’s remaining seven second round matches will, as usual, take part in the main part of the draw, which takes place after the televised Premier League clash between Nottingham Forest and Newcastle at the City Ground.

The northern and southern sections of the draw will no longer apply in round three and there will be no geographical restrictions on the matches. Follow live coverage of the 2024/25 Carabao Cup third round draw below!

Good evening and welcome to Standard Sport’s live coverage of the 2024/25 Carabao Cup Third Round draw.

All Premier League teams participating in European football this season will enter the competition at this time, but the top six teams from last season will be separated to avoid a clumping of dates following the drastic changes made to both the Champions League and Europa League this season.

All of these clubs took part in a preliminary draw tonight to find out who will play home or away in the third round… more on that in a moment.

A total of 32 teams are involved in today’s games. 18 second round games were decided yesterday evening, and another seven are currently underway this evening.

The draw – hosted by Mark Chapman – is expected to take place at around 10.15pm (BST), following the conclusion of the televised Premier League match between Nottingham Forest and Newcastle at the City Ground.

Stay tuned for the latest news, updates and draw live.
