Huntsville Ballet Company’s 61st Season Includes ‘Swan Lake’ – The Madison Record

MADISON – The Huntsville Ballet Company has announced its 61st season program, guaranteed to delight both seasoned art lovers and impressed newcomers.

Following the resounding success of the Huntsville Ballet Company’s 60th season, the Huntsville Ballet returns with another spectacular schedule that Artistic Director Phillip Otto describes as “a mysteriously powerful season.”

“As one of the oldest arts organizations in Huntsville, we are proud to be a major contributor to the culture of our region. The Huntsville Ballet Company has a long and rich history of raising the level of dance in our region to the highest level,” said Otto.

“Through our school, our active education and outreach programs, and through performances, we actively teach the art of ballet to our community and use dance to teach (various) subjects for different learning styles in collaboration with local schools through integrated studies and STEAM programs,” Otto said.

Individual tickets for these productions will be available from September 15th:

* HBC UNPLUGGED – Performances will take place October 25-27 at the Dream Theater. The Huntsville Ballet Company will open with an electrifying performance of Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons,” choreographed by Phillip Otto. Additionally, audiences will enjoy the world premiere of “Night Songs,” composed and performed live by local artist Jackson Love. Each performance will end with what has become a favorite with audiences – the opportunity to meet and ask questions of the dancers and directors.

* THE NUTCRACKER – December 13-15 at the Mark C. Smith Concert Hall. December marks the Huntsville Ballet’s 56th production with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra. This time-honored event has become a staple of the holiday season.

Tchaikovsky’s iconic score is brought to life with Clara and her prince, the magically growing Christmas tree, a blizzard of white snowflakes, dancing flowers and the lovely Sugar Plum Fairy. All performers are students of the Huntsville Ballet School.

* DANCER’S CHOICE – February 13-16, 2025 at the Huntsville Ballet Company Studio. The Dancer’s Choice Series gives dancers the opportunity to choreograph and perform in genres of their choosing. Performing in the small, intimate setting of their studio has proven to be a truly interactive experience, giving audience members the opportunity to engage in conversation with dancers and directors.

Seating is limited for public performances in the studio. Call 256-539-0961 to reserve a private performance for up to 30 guests. Tickets are $37 each.

* SWAN LAKE – April 18-20, 2025 at Dream Theater. Due to popular demand, Swan Lake will be performed again and accompanied by the Huntsville Ballet Orchestra at Mark C. Smith Concert Hall to conclude the “seductive 61st season.”

The encore expands on Tchaikovsky’s captivating masterpiece by performing the third act in addition to last season’s ravishing performance of the second and fourth acts. Act three includes the seductive Black Swan Pas de Deux, which includes the technical feat of 32 fouettes. This performance is one of the most technically demanding variations for a ballerina.
