Saratoga hosts the Stanley Cup

The National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup – one of the most famous trophies in sports – travels to Saratoga Race Course on August 31. Fans of hockey and horse racing will have the opportunity to take free photos with the Stanley Cup when it is on display on the Jockey Silks Porch from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Stanley Cup is awarded each year to the National Hockey League champion team and is currently owned by the Florida Panthers, whose primary owner is Vinnie Viola of St. Elias Stable.

“We are grateful to Vinnie Viola for bringing the legendary Stanley Cup to Saratoga Race Course, a fitting setting where champions compete each summer,” said Dave O’Rourke, NYRA President and CEO. “We know our fans will enjoy and appreciate the opportunity to take photos with the Cup, and we thank the Florida Panthers organization for allowing us to be part of the celebration of their success.”

The 13 races on Saturday at Saratoga include a special start at 12:05 p.m., with gates opening at 10:30 a.m.
