EPCOT test track canopy removal completed as Disney Imagineering files additional new permits
There are two pieces of news regarding the Test Track redesign this week as work continues on redesigning EPCOT’s original roller coaster.
First, the external canopy structure has been completely removed to make way for the new, cleaner and more elegant exterior of the upcoming Test Track 3.0.
Construction continues inside the building as Walt Disney Imagineering has applied for another building permit. The latest permit is for electrical work that will be performed by Pro Sound, Inc., a Walt Disney Imagineering supplier based in Florida.
Like previous permits for the test track, this one is also limited to one year by default. This suggests that an opening in summer 2025 is still quite possible.
Disney says Test Track will celebrate the innovations of today while highlighting the past, present and future.
Six different exhibits will be showcased in the queue, and each room will celebrate the vehicles – and the people behind the vehicles – that are pushing new boundaries and helping people begin the next chapter of our movement journey.
New show scenes will be added that showcase technological advancements and how our lifestyles and relationship with mobility connect us all. Enjoy a spin through scenes that focus on on-board technology, customization and personalization. Followed by a drive along a scenic outdoor route that reminds us all of the joys of driving, noticing the world around us and spending quality time with friends and family.
